Set the priorities before selecting tile.

Discuss shower access, storage, ventilation and how the room is used. Keeping fixtures in place and relocating them are different scopes. Confirm dimensions and product compatibility before placing orders.

Look beyond the finish.

Ask how the proposal addresses the substrate, wet-area waterproofing, penetrations and transitions. Tile is the visible finish; the preparation underneath deserves its own discussion. Installation should follow the selected system and manufacturer requirements.

Understand the sequence.

Removal reveals conditions that were not visible during the first visit. Discuss how those findings are documented and priced. Coordinate plumbing and electrical work, applicable inspections, waterproofing, tile and fixtures. Plan access to another bathroom and review care instructions at handover.
